On March 6th 2012, the Honorable Congressman Donald Payne Sr., passed away from colon cancer. Congressman Payne Sr. served the 10th district in the house of representatives for 23 years. He also was the first black congressman elected to respresent New Jersey.The city of Newark paid homage to a great leader, father, husband. Many showed up to pay tribute, people such as former President Bill Clinton and many other dignitaries from places as far as Africa and Ireland paid their respect for this great man. He will be greatly missed.
